Radiation Detection and Measurement (Knoll)
The most basic textbook about nuclear/radiation metrology by Knoll: "Radiation Detection and Measurement". If you find it in PDF format, please post here or upload it!

Hello ,
sorry I use Version 2.1 Gamma Analysis Software.
I would like to determine Natural Radioacitivity (Uranium, Th, K and antropogenic Cs-137) in soil and sand samples.
I can't use Gamma Analysis Software, I use manual from Basic Spectroscopy software without gamma analysis software. But I have that. Please help me. Thanks you very much.
Hi emotion!
What do you want to use exactly? Do you want me to make a proposition for analytical software-hardware about determination of Natural Radioacitivity or do you want me to tell you what algorithm do we use about this job?? For the moment I would like to tell you to search for relative documentation (after your login) using your keywords in the "Filename" field and pressing the "teleDOS Search" button here: /searchfile.ghp?vfolder=/SCIENTIFIC%20PUBLICATIONS/ . If you cannot find what you need, please inform me again to help you.
By the way: is it posible for you to upload in your personal folder (or anywhere else you want) all the documentation you own about nuclear technology-metrology?? We will be happy to host your work (papers, diploma thesis, etc) too in this site!

I try to use Genie-2000 software with S501 gamma analysis software in the lab. There are Eu-152 point source (10 microCi) and liquid one (185kBq) and IAEA-135 soil referance to calibration energy and efficiency. I found the presentation in MSPowerPoint format in the net (Spectrum Analysis using some software).I studied on it. but I have some problems. If it is possible, could you find me lecture notes about spectrum analysis in Genie-2000 ?
I can propose very useful documentation about your job, but not exactly lecture notes for Genie (don't you have the manual??). Anyway, I believe that there is no diference between the spectrum analysis softwares at the way they work... The only diference is at their look (GUI). The way of gamma spectrum analysis for environmental samples is common and is described in the following documents:

p.s.1: Use the Eu-152 standards only for energy calibration and not for efficiency! See the presentations above to find the better way - standard for efficiency calibration and use a crossover energy at about 130 keV. Check this topic of the forum periodicaly because I will post here about every relative documentation-updates I'll find from time to time. Please post here your other findings on the project.
p.s.2: Look in the folder /SCIENTIFIC%20PUBLICATIONS/NUCLEAR?name for many other relative stuff...
After your study and your practice, if you still have problems with your environmental or other measurements, do not hesitate to contact us to arange remote co-operation/co-measurements or an in situ support/set-up for your lab.

I uploaded PRESENTATION_GENIE_new.ppt files in my shared files. in this presentation I could do peak locate, peak area calculation, peak area correction (background subtraction). I couldn't do Efficiency correction and so on.
